William T. Golden

William T. Golden, who for many years was a member of the Haskins Laboratories Board of Directors, died on October 7, 2007 at the age of 97.

William Golden, who was born on October 25, 1909, was an investment banker and philanthropist who was best known for his critical role in shaping American science policy. He served on numerous boards of prominent organizations and was influential in coordinating the government’s role in science, including developing the idea of a science adviser to the president and helping to create the National Science Foundation.
